Vital Human Resources launches new Safety Bus for site contractors

Vital Human Resources are proud to unveil their new Safety Bus, a major step forward in site safety for contractors.

The official launch of the bus, which took place at the Vital Human Resources head office, was attended by the CEO of Morson Group Ged Mason, executive director Gary Hardaker, HSQE manager Dhiru Gadhia and group training director Matthew Leavis. The ribbon was formally cut by Sam Lord of Morson Training.

The primary goal of the bus is to facilitate and focus all forms of safety communications for contractors, and during the four-month development cycle, it was subject to meticulous planning and scrutiny to ensure compliance with stringent workplace safety standards. The bespoke and copyright design was produced and installed by a specialist company in Doncaster.

Extensive contractor research was conducted during the development stage to better understand the needs of the site employees and this consultation is reflected in the facilities the safety bus provides. The heated environment provides a comfortable and flexible venue for contractors to meet and discuss issues as well as receive formal safety briefings.

The bus also provides a supply of clean water, a first aid kit and a television to support the delivery of safety briefings at any time and in any location.

Executive director Gary Hardaker commented: “Through the development of the Safety Bus, Vital is enabled to carry out conversations in any location in the UK in a professional and dignified manner.

“Our commitment to safety is absolute, as evidenced by the major developments launched in the last two years and the pipeline to continue innovation.”

Dhira Gadhia, who oversaw the project, has seen a positive reaction from its initial use: “The vehicle is a fantastic way to promote and deliver site safety tours, briefings, toolbox talks and PPE replenishment. It has gone down extremely well with both our workforce and our clients and is now seen as best practice.

“The HSE is currently doing a case study on our safety innovations, in particular this vehicle.”

A dedicated HSE advisor coordinates and manages the vehicle on a day-to-day basis, and its early use has already seen it on sites across the UK.
