Manufacturing Engineer

Rate: PAYE £30.23ph + holiday pay / Umbrella £40ph

Type: Contract until end of June 2025

Morson is currently recruiting a Manufacturing Engineer for our Aerospace Manufacture client based in Bristol. This exciting role focuses on conducting industrial studies to advance future wing concepts, enabling innovative manufacturing and assembly solutions for cutting-edge wing structures and systems.

Role Overview

The Industrial Manufacturing Engineer will play a key role in maturing build concepts and associated enabling technologies for novel wing designs. This includes both structural and system integration, with an emphasis on ensuring compatibility with industrial systems and manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities

  • CAD Design & Integration: Utilize CAD tools to design and validate integration and assembly solutions for system and structural components, incorporating them into a comprehensive digital mock-up.
  • Prototyping & Testing: Develop physical prototypes from digital models and test them using physical wing mock-ups to validate manufacturing and assembly technologies.
  • Industrial System Analysis: Assess and evaluate integration and assembly techniques, considering impacts on the overall industrial system, such as factory flowline, tooling, and jigs.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with design office teams to support trade studies addressing diverse integration challenges, including wing structure, fuel and inerting systems, hydraulics, and electrical systems.

Required Skills & Experience

Essential

  • Proficiency in CAD tools for design and model manipulation.
  • Solid understanding and hands-on experience with manufacturing, assembly, and fastening techniques relevant to aircraft design.
  • Strong knowledge of aircraft system integration, assembly requirements, and compliance with industry standards and certification needs.
  • Familiarity with industrial systems used in aircraft manufacturing.
  • Comprehensive understanding of aircraft design and manufacturing principles. 

Desirable

  • Experience with sector-specific engineering and industrial standards and processes is advantageous (aerospace/aviation/automotive).
