Manufacturing Process Engineer

Type: 6-12month contract
Location: Rochester
Rates: PAYE £33ph + holiday pay / Umbrella £44.30ph
Work Schedule: 4-day week (Monday to Thursday)

Morson is recruiting on behalf of BAE Systems for a Manufacturing Process Engineer to develop and optimise manufacturing processes from concept to commissioning. This is a great opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge engineering solutions in a dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement cost-effective, efficient manufacturing processes.
  • Ensure compliance with Lean Principles, Process Control Plans, and PFMEAs.
  • Specify, qualify, and integrate new equipment, ensuring safety and regulatory compliance.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives and manage process changes.
  • Provide technical expertise in risk management, tendering, and process commissioning.
  • Maintain process documentation throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with suppliers, engineers, and stakeholders to enhance manufacturing solutions.
  • Present process performance updates to management.

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • Strong background in manufacturing process development.
  • Knowledge of project and risk management.
  • Excellent problem-solving, planning, and communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritise workloads while ensuring high quality.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Desirable:

  • Experience with materials processing or high-hazard environments.
  • IOSH Managing Safety / NEBOSH Certificate.
  • Awareness of automated controls (PLC systems) and Non-Destructive Techniques (NDT).
  • Six Sigma Green Belt certification.
  • Experience in risk assessments.

Qualifications:

HNC/HND in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Chemical Engineering (or equivalent).
