Project Manager
£500 per day
Morson are currently recruiting for a project manager to deliver the next generation of technology to the MoD. The purpose of this role is to manage design, testing, integration and trials for various technological projects. The role requires strong leadership, professional project management expertise, excellent stakeholder management, and a proactive approach to managing risks. You will be customer facing so expected to manage commercial relationships as well as with suppliers, the project leadership team, the project controls team, software and systems engineering, procurement, finance, legal & commercial.
The role is being offered on a 6-month contract basis, with opportunities to extend. Hybrid working would be available with at least 3 days expected in the office in either Cheadle or Templecombe, whichever is closest. When required to travel to other sites expenses would be provided. We can pay a rate of £500 per day negotiable inside IR35.
Responsibilities:
- Motivating and supporting the Project Team
- Managing stakeholders, in particular customer and supplier relationships – building trust and confidence through open dialogue and leveraging adjacent functions as appropriate
- Defining Project Execution Strategies and leading the creation of Project Baselines and structures
- Ensuring that appropriate KPIs are established and controlled for Project outcomes
- Ensuring robust Project Controls are deployed and effective
- Representing the Project through lifecycle gates and periodic project reviews
- Management of Change Orders to contracted scope
Requirements
- Project Management Experience in an engineering discipline, ideally within aerospace, marine or defence
- Experience of project delivery within new technology implementation
- Able to manage both customer and supplier relationships
- Tailor deployment of best practice project controls
- Direct project activities with reference to the baseline and critical path
- Budget management experience in relation to commercial contracts
- Demand planning experience in a project context with a focus on the reliable forecasting of resource requirements
- Able to represent projects through established governance, giving an evidence-based account of progress and distilling key risks/opportunities/support
Desirable
- Capture and/or Bid Management experience
- Experience of leading a range of different project types – Design & Manufacture, Service & Support, Transformation etc
- Appropriate knowledge/experience of the Product Line, or similar Products
- IPMA and/or other relevant professional Project Management qualifications appropriate to grade (APM PMQ qualification or equivalent)
Recognising the RESTRICTED nature of the work, suitable candidates will be SC cleared or eligible for this level of clearance before starting the role
