Systems Engineer

Systems Engineer - Requirements Management / Test and Evaluation
Location: Yeovil, 3 days on site
Duration: 12 months initial
Rate negotiable on application
Inside IR35

Role Purpose:
The main purpose of the role is to support the Chief Project Engineer (RWUAS) in managing the system requirements and developing & managing the test & evaluation programme, for the RWUAS Technology Demonstrator programme.

Key Accountabilities:
• Directly responsible to the Chief Project Engineer (RWUAS)
• Management of the requirements management task
• Management of the test & evaluation task, including aircraft trials
• Represent the Company in Customer requirement driven meetings
• Status reporting of key drivers, risks & metrics
• Timely presentation of technical evidence to support the the RWUAS programme

Main Activities:
The main activities associated with the role include:
• Requirements Management
o Work with the Customer to capture and develop Concept of Operations to support definition of lower level system requirements
o Determine system level requirements e.g. physical, functional and environmental requirements
o Capture and development of regulatory requirements e.g. operational & design
o Flow down of requirements to technical areas and develop verification matrices, and evidence artifacts.
o Status reporting of requirement maturity and evidence
o Development of Flight Clearance documentation
• Test & Evaluation
o Develop Test, Evaluation & Acceptance Plan
o Determine flight test instrumentation requirements
o Work with technical areas to develop test programme for simulation, ground test vehicle and Technical Demonstrator
o Support to the flight trial activity
• Support to Bids
o Manage and conduct analysis of customer requirements to influence Bid strategies and identification of compliant solutions
o Creation of Engineering Proposal (EP) documentation in support of the proposed solution to include the Co-ordination of Engineering effort

Key Skillset
• Demonstrable Systems Engineering knowledge utilising recognised Systems Engineering Lifecycle models.
• An in-depth understanding of airworthiness and systems safety in the Rotorcraft environment
• Ability to understand complex engineering processes and the inter-dependencies
• Ability and willingness to use IBM Rational DOORS in day to day activities including the development and continuous improvement of database schemes, reporting mechanisms and required customisations.
• Ability and willingness to System Modelling processes and tools, such as IBM Rhapsody
• Presenting technical data to all levels within the company and external customers
• Tthe ability to interface directly with senior customer representatives and at all organisational levels as required
• An awareness of the impact technical decisions have upon the business and contract deliverables
• Capability to identify and direct improvements to complex processes, judging the balance between the cost and impact of change and its resulting benefits.
