Cranfield - 3 days in the office and 2 days at home
Length of contract – 12 months with the intension to extend
Pay rate: £27.00p/h
We are recruiting a Design Engineer Services (Body & Exterior Parts) for one of our automotive clients based in Cranfield. You will be working for a globally recognised automotive company. This is a long-term contract role. The contract is on an ongoing basis a may run for several years.
Key Responsibilities of the Body Electronics Engineer:
Body & Exterior Engineer encompassing:
- Global design and development at part / module level.
- Work within a cross functional global team.
- Manage BOM application from vehicle & styling specs as input.
- Create and manage the part validation plans for suppliers.
- Supplier management (cost / quality and timing).
- Meeting regulation & safety performance requirements.
- Managing and reporting of “part cost performance” vs “budget”.
- Quick root cause analysis of technical concerns and complete QCT management for efficient adoption of the solution to vehicle.
- Manage design releases and revisions to meet project milestones.
- Perform design reviews before major project milestones.
- Supporting global strategies with European customer voice and competitor benchmark.
- Achieve cost target (piece price / VT, cost reduction).
- Achieve quality target (part performance, spec, NEVQS, warranty).
- Achieve project KPI’s (Key performance indicators).
- Technical solutions for development / market concern.
- On time design release / delivery to support milestones and builds.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Qualifications & Experience for the Body Electronics Engineer:
- Design / engineering qualification (preferably degree level).
- NX CAD skills (engineer rather than CAD engineer).
- Able to articulate and explain ideas to a global audience.
- Knowledge of datum concepts/geometrical tolerancing
- Time management skills.
- Previous automotive design and development experience.
- Knowledge of Body & Exterior manufacturing processes, especially metal pressing/forming and injection moulding.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
- Knowledge of applied regulations for body/exterior parts for Europe.
- Valid driving licence, and able to travel globally.
- Ability to adapt quickly to new internal process, portals, documents.
