Health and Safety Manager - Carlisle, Cumbria - £65k-£70k+package - major infrastructure project
Responsibilities:-
The purpose of this role is to provide functional Health, Safety and Wellbeing advice, guidance and coaching to the operational teams. The position supports the contract/project team in establishing and maintaining the highest levels of Health, Safety and Wellbeing.
As the Health and Safety Manager, your duties & responsibilities will include:
• Advise on contract/project compliance with statutory provisions
• Advise the contract/project team on the competency requirements in line with requirements
• Advise the contract/project on the production, implementation and review of HSW plans, e.g. construction phase plan
• Advise contract/project teams to ensure risk assessments and method statements (RAMS)are prepared and reviewed as necessary
• Escalate significant and potentially significant incidents to HSW manager and contract/project lead immediately
• Undertake incident investigations in line with the incident investigation procedure
• Maintain the incident management database, including uploading of supporting documentation and close out of actions
• Ensure monthly HSW reports are completed and submitted, accurately and on time
• Review contract/project HSW trends with the contract/project lead establish and monitor any agreed improvement plans
• Conduct, as a minimum, HSW audits and inspections as per the schedule(s) recording findings/actions on Procore
• Assist the contract/project to close out actions/non-conformances from HSW audits and inspections
• Work proactively to build and maintain relationships with contractors/subcontractors, designers, suppliers, clients, enforcement agencies and other relevant parties
• Participate in the development, review, update and rollout of HSW processes and procedures
• Support the business with work winning when requested
• Promote and support a culture of continuous improvement
• To support project teams in establishing and maintaining the highest Health and Safety standards for the contract/project
• Act as an exemplar role model in delivering HSW initiatives and campaigns
• Set an example to the business by maintaining a high standard of HSW compliance at all times
• Carryout specific briefings as instructed by Head of SHEQ/Project Director
Skills & Knowledge Requirements:-
Essential:
Previous experience in health and safety on complex civil engineering/infrastructure projects. Minimum NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent Technician, or Graduate membership of IOSH.
Desirable:
Working towards chartered membership of IOSH. NEBOSH Diploma, NEBOSH National Certificate in the Management of Health and Well-being at Work
