Salary: £70,000 per year (negotiable depending on experience)
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Project Manager (PM) to join our team at Stansted Airport. This permanent role offers the opportunity to manage capital projects within an exciting and fast-paced airport environment. The successful candidate will initially focus on smaller-scale landside projects for the first 3-4 months before progressing to more complex airside works.
As the Project Manager, you will lead the delivery of capital projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and meet regulatory and quality requirements. You will collaborate closely with stakeholders, manage project teams, and champion safety and efficiency throughout all stages of the project. This is a leadership role that requires a customer-focused approach, strong commercial acumen, and the ability to manage dynamic change.
Key Responsibilities
General Services
Project Vision & Strategy: Work with MAG to understand the project scope and vision create a compelling vision for the team, ensuring alignment with the wider project strategy inspire and motivate others to achieve project goals.
Commercial & Customer Focus: Demonstrate strong commercial expertise and focus on customer needs to deliver an exceptional project experience.
Dynamic Leadership & Change Management: Encourage new ideas for continuous improvement, adapt to change, and lead others through transitions with proactive communication.
Collaborative Approach: Foster a collaborative working environment and actively support team performance.
HSE Commitment: Support MAG’s ‘Vision Zero’ HSE programme with a strong focus on safety, sustainability, and operational health.
Project Administration: Manage time, cost, and quality according to the Company Project Delivery System (PDS) provide timely progress reports and ensure proper management of project schedules, milestones, and financial data.
Project & Programme Management Responsibilities
Capital Project Delivery: Lead capital projects from conception to completion, ensuring they are delivered within scope, cost, and resources.
Team Leadership & Development: Manage and mentor a team of up to 6 project managers and approximately 50 contractors, fostering a high-performance culture and promoting professional growth.
Performance & Compliance: Track key performance metrics, ensure HSE compliance, and maintain project delivery schedules.
Project Prioritisation & Task Allocation: Effectively assign tasks to team members to meet deadlines and optimise resources.
Change Management & Risk Mitigation: Evaluate and manage changes in scope, budget, or timeline lead the resolution of operational challenges and minimise delays.
NEC3/4 Responsibilities
Contract Management: Review and understand project contract requirements ensure communication systems are established and all contractual obligations are met.
Early Warning & Risk Management: Manage the Early Warning Register and communicate risks effectively with contractors.
Project Monitoring & Payments: Oversee quality management, inspections, and progress payments in line with contract terms.
Defect Resolution & Final Payments: Lead defect resolution processes and oversee final payments and the issuance of Completion Certificates.
Project-Specific Deliverables
Oversee all specific deliverables as outlined in the Call-Off Contract.
Skills & Experience
Proven experience in project management within the airport or aviation industry, particularly in capital projects.
Strong commercial acumen and understanding of customer needs.
Leadership capabilities to inspire and motivate teams effectively.
In-depth knowledge of HSE regulations and Project Delivery Systems (PDS).
Experience with NEC3/4 contracts, including managing Early Warnings, Compensation Events, and final payments.
