Junior Estimator

Junior Estimator - Wakefield - £30,000 - £35,000

A well-established construction company is looking for a Junior Estimator to join their growing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates and tenders for a range of stonework, brick, and GRC projects, working closely with suppliers, subcontractors, and internal teams to ensure competitive pricing and profitability.

Key Responsibilities:
Review project specifications, architectural drawings, and other documents to prepare cost estimates.
Accurately calculate material, labour, and equipment costs.
Source and negotiate competitive quotations from suppliers and subcontractors.
Prepare and submit detailed tenders, ensuring compliance with client requirements and industry standards.
Assess potential risks and recommend cost-saving strategies.
Collaborate with project managers and site teams to refine cost estimates and monitor project budgets.
Maintain up-to-date cost databases and pricing structures.
Stay informed of market trends, industry regulations, and new construction techniques relevant to the sector.

Requirements:
Previous experience as a Construction Estimator.
Strong understanding of construction materials, methods, and UK building regulations.
Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Excel.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
Strong analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
Ability to work efficiently under pressure and meet deadlines.
Strong understanding of cost control principles.

Preferred Qualifications:
HNC/HND or degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
Experience estimating within the construction industry (Masonry preferred).
Membership with RICS, CIOB, or a relevant professional body.
