Assistant Project Manager

£47 – £65 per hour

Morson are currently supporting the recruitment of a Package Manager for one of our Marine Defence clients based in Plymouth. We’re looking for someone with experience in a similar role as a package manager or as a project manager. You will be responsible for managing the design of building infrastructure projects to provide facilities for military marine vessels to provide an overall sustainment capability. You will be expected to review and report on cost and finances as well as chairing and leading meetings.

The role is being offered on an initial 6-month contract with opportunities to extend or convert into a permanent role. You will be based at the Plymouth dockyards on a hybrid remote basis with at least 3 days a month on site and once a month travel to Bristol. We can offer a maximum rate of £47 per hour PAYE or £65 per hour Umbrella.

Responsibilities

  • As a Package Manager within buildings – you will provide support to the Project Manager who is managing the contract of new Buildings designs. 
  • You will be focusing on owning the verification of the Consultants design documentation through the verification process.
  • Managing the design through RIBA stages 2 – 4.
  • Support in delivery of schedule, scope, contractual, financial and risk management.
  • Assisting the technical and project team in development of requirements, project scope and solutions for specific work packages.
  • Translate supply chain reporting into useable data.
  • Provide input to cost and budget monitoring.

Requirements

  • Experience of working within a project environment managing designs packages.
  • Managing the design of highly complex multifunctional buildings, through RIBA stages 2 – 4
  • Background in civil engineering
  • CEMAR
  • APM quals would be useful
  • Knowledge of highly regulated environments and complex document management systems.

Desired Requirements

  • NEC3 or 4 contract experience.
  • The project will be on a Nuclear Licensed site and therefore experience in delivery of Nuclear safety implicated structures, equipment or services would be of benefit.
  • A Bachelors or Master’s Degree.
  • APM project management qualification or equivalent.
  • NEC4 Accredited Project Manager

Recognising the RESTRICTED nature of the work, suitable candidates will be SC cleared or eligible for this level of clearance
