Role Overview:
The HSE Advisor will join a team of Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) professionals, providing expert advice and support for the successful implementation of the Group Projects Health and Safety function. This role will support the project portfolio by delivering HSE guidance within Group Projects and across the Urenco organisation. The position requires a proactive approach in defining, developing, aligning, and maintaining HSE processes, procedures, and training requirements related to emergency preparedness throughout the project lifecycle.
This role operates in a highly regulated environment, with projects spanning multiple nuclear facilities. The successful candidate will implement change and improvements in an evolving operational landscape, supporting construction activities across four different sites. Additionally, they will facilitate alignment and integration between Group and Site activities to ensure consistency in process application.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide pragmatic and effective HSE advice, guidance, and support to the project portfolio in key areas such as:
Health and Safety (including fire safety)
Health and Wellbeing
High Hazard Safety Management
Radiation Safety
Environmental Protection
Quality Management Systems and Assurance
Organisational Learning and Continuous Improvement
Business Continuity and Emergency Planning
Develop and implement company processes to ensure compliance with legislative, regulatory, and corporate policy standards.
Support the business in identifying and implementing learning opportunities and continuous improvements.
Lead and contribute to investigations, audits, inspections, and training initiatives.
Provide positive influence across Group Projects, fostering a strong HSE culture and adherence to best practices.
Qualifications & Experience:
Essential:
NEBOSH General Certificate (or commitment to obtain).
Proven experience providing HSE advice in an industrial environment.
Experience in developing and/or working with Integrated Management Systems.
Recognised internal (or higher) auditor training (or commitment to obtain).
Desirable:
NEBOSH Diploma (or commitment to obtain).
Experience working within nuclear, COMAH, or other high-hazard industries.
Experience leading or participating in audits and/or investigations.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to liaise with all levels of the organisation to ensure buy-in and compliance.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Atlantic Link).
Knowledge of site-relevant legislation (e.g., Ionising Radiations Regulations, Nuclear Installations Act).
