About the Opportunity:
Our client is recruiting for a Senior Process Engineer to support their key client’s UK nuclear fleet and new small modular reactor (SMR) developers. Their work spans New Build, Generation, Life Extension, and Defueling, with capabilities in demand across the nuclear sector. Flexible and hybrid working options are available. You will report to the Process Engineering Lead and collaborate with other engineers across the business.
Key Responsibilities:
Support various nuclear clients with process design and assurance in these areas:
- Nuclear new build
- Technical assurance of design reports prior to submission.
- Design justification or assessment of new and existing process plants.
- Being a key discipline contributor to Feasibility and Optioneering Studies.
- HAZOP Leadership and Hazard Identification Studies.
- Process designs
- Leading small teams of multidisciplinary engineers.
- Produce and check process deliverables, including flow sheets, PFDs/P&IDs, datasheets with underpinning calculations, Basis of Design, and process descriptions.
Requirements:
- Degree in chemical engineering or equivalent expertise through apprenticeship.
- Chartered or working towards Chartership.
- Experience in front-end engineering design through to full life cycle project requirements.
- Broad understanding of process engineering to be able to undertake different projects across varied clients/location.
- Knowledge of Civil nuclear plant systems and conventional power plant technology, structures and components is an advantage.
- Desired skills include thermodynamics, fluid flow, steam system design, solids handling, and equipment sizing (incl. pumps, heat exchangers, pressure vessels etc.)
- Self-motivated, collaborative, innovative, and excellent communication skills.
