Reporting to Term Framework Design Manager

Location Macclesfield (3 days) / Hybrid (2 days WFH)

Contract Role – 6 months +
£50-£55 p/hr

Role Overview
We are currently seeking to recruit an Instrument Engineer to be based in Macclesfield Cheshire.
The Instrument Engineer will have the responsibility to support the local projects team through provision of Instrument Design and Consulting Services.
This role will require a high level of autonomy and strong communication skills.
The Instrument Engineer will have a technical engineering design background.
Projects within the current portfolio include:
• Upgrade of effluent plant to PLC control
• Upgrade of process plant to Emerson DCS and functional safety upgrades
Role Detail Description:
The Instrument Engineer will work closely with the Multi Discipline Design Team and Project Manager supporting the efficient and effective delivery of pharmaceutical projects.
The post holder will:
• Review and assess customer needs
• Provide resource estimates for design related activities
• Produce reports, scope of works, concept design and detailed designs (Typically RIBA 2-4)
• Support effective delivery of projects to time, quality, and cost targets together with the ability to multi-task and prioritise
• Produce documentation in accordance with defined standards / quality requirements
• Liaise with design and equipment subcontractors
• Lead the improvement of performance by seeking, reviewing and applying, where appropriate, innovative solutions
• Interface with other disciplines such as Mechanical, Process, HVAC and Civil
• This position requires significant interface with the client and the BGEN Installation team to meet these requirements it is recommended the Instrument Engineer attends the Macclesfield office 3 days per week.
Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications & Experience
• Extensive experience (at least 5 years) in a relevant design role including successful delivery of Instrumentation installation designs within projects for the pharmaceutical sector.
• HNC or Degree in technical engineering related subject
• Membership of professional Institution or similar body is desirable
• Experience in UK pharmaceutical construction projects is desirable but not essential
• Experience of E&I design best practices
• Project lifecycle experience (Concept through detail design to construction support)
• Knowledge of data and administrative management practices and procedures
• Sound experience and knowledge of CDM Regulations 2015
• Undertake site surveys
• Possess collaborative skills and experience working in part of a multi-discipline team
• Possess ability to work in a team or alone, comfortable to liaise with client representatives
• Strong communication and organisational skills
• Compex 12 desirable or extensive experience of hazardous area design
• Qualification in functional safety working to IEC61511 essential
• Experience producing SIL documentation supporting projects producing safety requirements specifications, systematic capabilities, architecture and reliability assessments

Proficient use of the following software packages:
• AutoCAD LT (minimal cad works expected)
• Navisworks (Not essential)
• Revit (Not essential)
• Microsoft suite of programs
