Workshop Fitter

The Workshop Fitter will be responsible for inspecting, repairing, and maintaining a variety of vehicles and equipment, ensuring they meet manufacturer specifications and health and safety standards. The role requires flexibility in working hours, including potential emergency call-outs, and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team. Key responsibilities include conducting defect inspections, servicing and repairing equipment, and maintaining accurate records. The Workshop Fitter must promote safe working practices, adhere to company procedures regarding health and safety, and actively foster a positive staff morale. Participation in training and development programmes is encouraged to enhance skills and qualifications relevant to the role.

Skills:

Knowledge of vehicles and plant
Fault finding and diagnostics
Experience in hydraulics and electrics
Welding (Mig and Arc)
Manual handling
Courteous and prompt telephone manner
Ability to use own initiative
Team player with enthusiasm
Flexible with working hours
Understanding of electronics

Software/Tools:

IT systems related to work (e.g., diagnostic software)
Certifications & Standards:
City & Guilds in commercial/plant vehicle repairs equivalent
LGV Class 1 or 2 and CPC in transport
Banksman certification
CSCS card (if required)
HGV certification
Emergency First Aid
Current Driving Licence
