Supplier Quality Assurance Engineer

Morson Talent are with one of the UK’s biggest defence companies to recruit for 4 Supplier Quality Assurance Engineers. 

The role of the Quality Engineer is to provide on site specialist guidance and support to suppliers, during the manufacturing process. Candidates should have experience within a manufacturing environment and have auditing experience. This role would be ideal for someone with military/defence background.

Role Profile: 

  • Rates - £35/hour PAYE + £5.09 Holiday Pay or £45.50 /hour on an Umbrella company basis.
  • Length of Contract - Initial 12 Contract with potential for extension.
  • Location - The suppliers are across the UK but mainly in the South of England

Please note: The role involves auditing suppliers so candidates need to be prepared to travel to suppliers 4 – 5 days/week, travel, accommodation and meals will be reimbursed and it’s likely that overtime will be available.

Core Duties

Typical duties include (but are not limited to):
• Ability to critique and tailor issues in reports/presentations
• Carry out assessments IAW schedule
• Ability to carry out complex Quality activities in SQEP area
• Carry out routine and non-routine inspection work as required
Safety:

Knowledge, Skills and Qualifications

Knowledge:
• Understanding and application of ISO 9001/ EN9100 standards
• Subject Matter Expert (SME) own discipline within Quality and a broad understanding of other Quality related disciplines
• Understanding of Business Management Systems, Operational Framework and Operational Assurance process
• Knowledge of and experience of product safety
• Understanding the importance of cross functional integration across the Business Unit to achieve overall goals of the Function
• Export requirements knowledge (for example International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR)) (where applicable)

Skills:

• The ability to interpret specifications, procedures and contract requirements and cascade to others
• Lead facilitator of Root Cause Analysis (RCA) methodologies Fishbone, 5 Why, relationship diagrams, six sigma etc. gathering and analysing evidence
• Effective action management and verification
• Effective stakeholder management (including with the customer)

Qualifications:

A combination of the following qualifications is required:

• PCN level 2 (as a minimum) in NDT (UT, DPI, MPI or radiography)
• ICORR or NACE level 2
• CSWIP 3.1 or 3.2

Audit to iso 9001:2015 or AS 9100 is desirable but not essential.

This includes co-operating and following all reasonable instruction, information and training reporting work-related hazards or incidents, using all equipment for the purpose intended, setting high standards for SHE, leading by example and establishing the expectation that others do the same promoting risk awareness, ensuring that risks are assessed and adequately controlled, encouraging the team to report incidents and defects and make suggestions to improve SHE standards and ensuring actions to address SHE issues are prioritised and resourced appropriately. More detailed responsibilities are captured within the Company Health & Safety Policy (759/OF/016) and the Company Environmental Policy (759/OF/029).

Due to the nature of the work, SC clearance must be in place before start date, we can submit candidates without SC but start dates will likely be in delayed.
