£371 - £507 per day
Morson are currently recruiting for a Project Manager to support the development of optronic equipment for one of our prestigious defence clients based in Glasgow. This is a delivery focused role where you would be responsible for managing the workflow of engineers working on various elements of optoelectronic equipment such as sensors and lasers. We’re looking for a mid-level project manager with a background of delivering engineering projects.
The role is being offered on an initial 12-month contract basis, to cover maternity leave. Therefore our client needs someone that can get up to speed quickly and manage projects already in progress. We can offer hybrid working with 3 days minimum on site every week. We can offer a rate of £371 per day PAYE or £507 per day outside IR35.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver engineering development projects within the Optronics business area.
- Co-ordinate hardware, software and firmware delivery tasks to ensure individual elements are delivered together as a finished product.
- Have oversight of hardware, software and firmware engineers to ensure they have the capability to complete their tasks.
- Managing stakeholders from procurement to customers to ensure smooth delivery execution.
- Defining Project Execution Strategies and leading the creation of Project Baselines.
- Monitor the finances of your projects, ensuring any deviations are reported on.
- Create reports for senior management to present to leadership on project progress.
- Ensuring that Work Packages maintain a robust baseline at all times.
- Ensuring that appropriate KPIs are established and controlled for Project outcomes.
- Ensuring robust PMO practices are deployed and effective.
- Representing the Project through established governance.
Requirements:
- At least 3 years’ experience as a Project Manager within an engineering environment.
- Experience of managing/leading hardware engineers within development projects.
- Able to communicate with engineers and understand issues affecting delivery.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, particular with customers and suppliers.
- Able to identify and manage risks and opportunities.
- Experience of working within budget and contractual constraints.
- Demand planning principles in a project context with a focus on the forecasting of resource requirements.
- Representing projects through established governance, giving an account of progress and distilling for Senior Management.
Desirable skills:
- Experience within Aerospace, Defence or Optronics.
- Member of Association for Project Management – APM, PMQ and/or IPMA Level D
- Experience of leading a range of different project types.
- Financial control experience.
- Prior experience of generating project progress reports.
Recognising the RESTRICTED nature of the work, suitable candidates will be SC cleared or eligible for this level of clearance before starting the role
