Location: Barrow, on site 5 days a week - up to 45 hours per week
Contract - 6 months +
Must have a UK right to work and be able to attain Security Clearance
Must have experience of Safe Start, Safety and Risk Assessements on a large construction site.
Job Description
The Job:
To control and monitor all CDM activities across the project, based at our client’s site. This involves planning, managing, monitoring, and coordinating various sub-contractors and ensuring construction work is carried out without risk to health and safety. To ensure that all tasks are carried out in accordance with health and safety regulations and meet with our customers standards and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- To manage workers and co-ordinate activities on site between other contractors and our clients’ operations.
- Provide site inductions, ensuring that all rules are clear and easily understandable including the CDM area and ensure they are recorded accurately.
- To review all RAMS prior to submission to the client, ensuring they are followed during working activities.
- Motivate and lead the site team members effectively ensuring that people have a clear understanding of what is required, and they have the relevant certifications, inductions, and RAMS in place.
- To ensure all contractors have the appropriate certifications, RAMS and SQEP packs and can demonstrate they have the appropriate skills and knowledge to carry out the work.
- Monitor the performance of all operators to ensure they are working safely, use equipment correctly and are following site rules.
- To attend and participate in daily site dashboard and kick off meetings for new work projects, escalating any concerns to the Operations Director. Relaying information from clients Plan of the Day meeting to onsite colleagues and contractors.
- To maintain records and provide reports in line with business requirements.
- To maintain a written diary of daily coordination activities and communicate this to all interested parties.
- To carry out regular toolbox talks and hold a morning meeting to coordinate activities and relay information from clients Plan of the Day meeting to onsite colleagues and contractors.
- To identify trends of high-risk areas and highlight this to the business unit and the client.
- To collate and provide information for inclusion within the Health & Safety Files and Construction Phase Plans.
- To maintain a register of all temporary works.
- To update CDM notice boards and site safety board daily with the latest information, ongoing works, and hazards.
- To carry out any other relevant task within skill set.
Scope:
- To plan the works to identify health and safety risks, implementing control measures and resources needed to reduce or eliminate the risk.
- To establish effective reporting lines and keep records of all site safety hazards and near misses and follow through to remedial action communicate this information to all relevant parties.
- Communicate any safety issues on the monthly safety meeting with client and NWT.
- To assist with the business unit’s health and safety management systems where appropriate.
- To delegate or reassign tasks to others, based on their skills and experience.
- To consult with other duty holders under the CDM Regulations 2015

Essential Experience, Skills & Qualifications:
- Be NEBOSH qualified in health and safety for construction (or in process of working towards qualification)
- Have knowledge of the CDM Regulations 2015
- To demonstrate the ability to work well under pressure and to deadlines.
- To have excellent organisational and prioritisation skills
- To be familiar with content and structure of RAMS, capable of reviewing and offering suggestions for amendments.
- Experience of mechanical and electrical isolations using LOTO system or similar.

- Experience of planning, coordinating and being responsible for onsite contractors throughout the lifespan of a project, documenting the safe and successful completion of works
