My client, a global nuclear engineering organisation, is looking for an experienced Senior Cloud Platform Engineer with a strong focus on Bicep to play a key role in designing and automating their cloud infrastructure. This is an excellent opportunity to shape and scale cloud environments across Azure and AWS, with a particular emphasis on using Bicep to manage and deploy Azure resources in a clean, modular, and maintainable way.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the use of Bicep to define, deploy, and manage infrastructure in Microsoft Azure, promoting infrastructure-as-code best practices across the team.
- Design, implement, and manage cloud platforms across Azure and AWS, with a focus on scalability, resilience, and security.
- Build and maintain automation frameworks to streamline deployment pipelines and operational workflows.
- Manage large-scale compute workloads using Azure Batch, ensuring performance and reliability.
- Collaborate with development, DevOps, and security teams to deliver robust cloud-native solutions.
- Apply cost optimisation, compliance, and security best practices in all cloud-related work.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex infrastructure and deployment issues in production and development environments.
Requirements:
- Demonstrable experience with Bicep, including writing and maintaining production-grade templates.
- Solid experience working with both Azure and AWS cloud platforms.
- Strong understanding of infrastructure automation and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles.
- Hands-on experience with other IaC tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation.
- Familiarity with Azure Batch and managing high-throughput compute workloads.
- Skilled in scripting with Python, PowerShell, or Bash.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and tools such as GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, or Jenkins.
- Knowledge of containerisation and orchestration (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) is beneficial.
- Excellent analytical and communication skills, with a collaborative working style.
- Experience in high-performance computing (HPC) environments is an advantage.
