EPoS Solutions Architect

Location: Remote (Occasional travel to offices in Hemel Hempstead)
Contract: Outside IR35
Day rate: Up to 600 per day
Duration: Initial 6 months

We are seeking a highly skilled Solutions Architect to support our large-scale EPoS deployment across multiple locations. This role is responsible for analysing and troubleshooting our legacy on-premise EPoS architecture, assessing technical challenges, and preparing for a potential future shift to cloud-based solutions.

The ideal candidate has a deep understanding of large-scale EPoS systems, cloud networking, and technical integration points, and can provide insight into optimizing the Client current infrastructure while supporting our long-term strategic goals.

Key technical skills / experience:

• Proven experience with EPoS systems or large-scale distributed systems, ideally in a retail, hospitality, or similar high-volume environment.

• Strong understanding of cloud networking and cloud architecture, with experience in cloud migration, especially from legacy systems to modern cloud setups.

• Conduct deep analysis of the current EPoS setup, identifying technical bottlenecks, complexities, and points of failure within the legacy on-premise architecture.

• Provide guidance on transitioning components of the EPoS system from on-premise to cloud-based architecture, understanding best practices in cloud networking, security, and scalability for high-volume transaction systems.

• Evaluate the technical feasibility of the current EPoS vendor’s roadmap toward cloud migration, providing insights into potential challenges and ensuring alignment with in-house technical requirements.

• Identify technical gaps in the vendor’s proposal and propose possible solutions or workarounds, ensuring all technical adjustments adhere to the overall strategic vision.

• Understand the custom integrations tied to the current EPoS system, including dependencies and limitations, to inform recommendations for system modifications.:

• Maintain thorough documentation of the current EPoS architecture, including network diagrams, technical dependencies, and identified pain points, to inform current and future state analysis.

• Knowledge of WAN, LAN, VPN, and related networking protocols as they apply to EPoS and retail environments.
