Quality Assurance Assistant

**In order to be considered for this opportunity you will need to be eligible for Baseline Level UK Security Clearance. Both the role and client site have security restrictions in place**

Job Purpose:

Working within our clients Digital Identity & Security (DIS) division the role deals primarily with banking and payment card production for a number of high street banks and financial institutions

You will be responsible for data collation, data recording and reporting on a regular basis and will be required to analyse results and output looking towards continual improvement at all times

The work is varied and will include product testing with precision tooling and methodology Qualifications of Machines and Consumables Calibration of equipment Working with and to a Quality Management System Collation and recording of data Maintain accurate records, answer queries and provide statistical and management reports and presentations on a regular basis as well as preparation for and involvement in both internal and external audits

Responsibilities

  • Define & optimise quality standards and measurement system:
    • lead the quality system/ quality process design, implementation and maintenance to ensure compliance with regulatory & internal standards at minimum Cost of Quality (incl. yield and quality assurance costs)
    • Quantify & incorporate variance build-up across operations in the definition of specifications
    • Build in in-line checks to reveal problems, detect & correct process failure fast and at source to contain cost build-up across operations
    • Ensure sampling strategies balance process variation (risk & potential cost of non-detection) against the cost of performing the control
    • Use statistical methods to verify regularly & improve the capability of each test/ control (MSA) and process
    • Ensure effective training (TWI-JI methodology), implementation & continued operation.
  • Lead & participate in product and process qualifications:
    • Ensure quality risks within each process are fully understood, thoroughly documented (FMEA) and systematically addressed
    • Use statistical methods to verify process capability & product quality during qualifications.
  • Improve the process:
    • Lead & support fast-paced PDCA/ DMAIC permanent problem fixing to stabilise/ reduce variation in processes and continuously improve performance
    • Continuously reduce process variation to reduce the Cost of Quality Assurance as well as the Cost of Non-Quality
  • Share process knowledge:
    • Document & share solutions, including problem solving/ discovery process, within the team, the plant and the group
    • Create opportunities for intra-group collaboration & adopt appropriate best practices from other sites

Knowledge & competencies:

Essential

  • Working knowledge of MS Excel, PowerPoint & Word
  • Is able to work both as a team player and on own initiative
  • Has excellent communication skills and be able to conduct training sessions or give presentations
  • Is well organised, structured and motivated

Desirable

  • Any prior experience within a Quality department in a production, financial or manufacturing environment would be hugely advantageous
  • Knowledge of quality assurance techniques and tools related to production processes would be extremely beneficial
  • Any understanding of lean manufacturing principles and the application within the quality concept would be useful
  • The ability to analyse quality data effectively and drive from this continuous improvement
  • Any knowledge of ISO standards, particularly ISO9001:2015, would be advantageous
