Morson Talent are representing a leader within the UK Energy Sector who have a current contract requirement for a Project Manager to join their established Bristol/Gloucester based team. All work is associated with Europe’s largest nuclear construction/infrastructure Project in Somerset.
Location: Aztec West or Gloucester Business Park x3 days per week and balance of week worked remotely
This is a (renewable) contract position, inside IR35.
Job Purpose / Overview
This post has the responsibility to ensure delivery of part of the Project detailed design engineering activities for the life cycle of the contract in accordance with the overall Project schedule. This post will ensure planning and delivery is in accordance with all safety, quality, time and cost parameters to meet the needs of the Project.
Principal Accountabilities
The primary responsibility of the Project Manager is to successfully manage the Nuclear Services Contracts and ensure that the engineering is delivered safely to cost, schedule and quality requirements.
Other responsibilities of the Project Manager include:
• Maintaining effective communications with all stakeholders and executing the Project strategies within the delivery of the contract
• Accountable for the delivery of the & Nuclear Services Task Order
• Responsible for the management of Scope Change
• Proactively drive the delivery of a key scope area of the contract and associated activities to ensure they are delivered safely on time, to budget, meeting business & technical requirements
• Proactively monitor and manage the progress of the scope area against contract - track progress against milestones, list of deliverables (LoD), budget, funding and provide key stakeholders with associated data to inform decision making
• Within the scope area, anticipate, manage early warnings and emerging Scope and
facilitate the resolution of all issues raised and escalate any issues
• Proactively managing the governance and interface with the Responsible Designer and Nuclear Services contract management team and technical Project/Site teams
• Identifying and coordinating the involvement of multiple stakeholders, including , project controls, commercia, finance and technical teams.
• Regular reporting of progress and escalations (KPI)
The Project Manager will be required in addition
• To proactively develop and maintain effective relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders ensuring that their expectations are met wherever possible
• To ensure that work is carried out in line with Health and Safety, Schedule and Quality Assurance requirements
• To be a role mode and demonstrate the highest standards of focus on nuclear professionalism and safety.
In addition, the post-holder may be required to perform other tasks relevant for the project, to support the wider project management team, or to the personal development of the post holder.
Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications & Experience
• Previous experience in Project Management or Project Engineering on large or complex engineering or construction projects
• Knowledge of and experience in working with NEC contracts preferred
• Degree or equivalent (in relevant science or engineering subject preferable)
