Clerk of Works

SPEN are looking for a Clerk of Works to join them on a long term contract basis.

Role: Clerk of Works
Business: Scottish Power Energy Networks (Distrubution)
Duration: 24 month initial contract
Location: Kilmarnock office & site (with occasional travel to project sites)
Rate: Inside IR35, Umbrella or PAYE options available

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct regular site inspections to monitor progress and quality.
  • Identify defects and recommend corrective actions.
  • Liaise with construction managers, Project Managers and Potentially Clients.
  • Produce detailed reports and maintain accurate records.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Strong attention to detail and excellent communication skills.
  • Knowledge of construction materials, methods, and legal requirements.
  • Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively.
  • CDM knowledge and Qualification preferable
  • HSE 47 knowledgeable
  • Stakeholder Engagement
  • Environmental Engagement
  • Proficiency in IT, including MS Word and Outlook, Excel. MS project plan

We are looking for an experienced clerk of works preferably with a rounded background and knowledge of NRSWA, overseeing excavating contractors, being able to engage with stakeholders, environmental awareness, adhering to compliance and legal requirements with excavating and installing electrical infrastructure.

This role is to operate as a clerk of works on Distribution Generation connections projects on behalf of SP Energy Networks within Ayrshire & Clyde South District reporting to Lee Thomson, Head of Delivery.
