We have an exciting new opportunity for a PRINCIPAL EC&I ENGINEER to be based at our clients premises either in Warrington, Cheshire or West Cumbria.
About the Role:
Reporting to the Area Engineering Manager, the Substation 15 and Substation 10 Replacement Project is looking for a Principal EC&I Engineer/Lead Engineer who will be required to support the delivery of the remaining EC&I scope across all packages of work.
The ideal candidate will be highly motivated, able to work independently, and have demonstrable engineering experience, be confident in their own ability to lead and deliver the EC&I scope on a project. Experience leading teams would be beneficial.
Experience of the following is preferred:
Site surveys of electrical assets.
Design of services.
Plant/site modifications (design and implementation).
Supporting the production of engineering documentation and drawings, including but not limited to site survey reports. single line diagrams (including protection diagrams), cable routing, block cable diagrams, CDM risk assessments, cable calculations, cable cards, outline installation method statements, CAE, input to optioneering, etc.
BIM input where required.
Support to single discipline design review & production of minutes of meetings.
Support to multiple discipline design review & production of minutes of meetings.
The role will involve the production of engineering deliverables to support the design development through concept, preliminary and detail design phases as required to the appropriate client standards.
Essential Qualifications & Experience:
Degree qualified EC&I Engineer (or equivalent through enhanced experience).
The role requires specific knowledge and experience of HV and LV Electrical Distribution Systems and associated Substation design.
Previous experience of working with Sellafield processes and procedures is important, but not essential.
The candidate should have at least 2 years experience in a similar role and should be an Incorporated/Chartered Engineer or working towards gaining professional status (or equivalent through enhanced experience).
They should be able to demonstrate the following competencies:
Ability to work with minimal supervision.
Ability to produce and maintain key deliverable documents, reports, calculations, schedules, drawings etc to programme and appropriate quality.
Ability to liaise and coordinate with other design disciplines and plant engineering in the preliminary/detail design process.
Experience and the ability to guide younger/less experienced engineers.
Experience in managing a team of EC&I design staff.
Experience in checking design deliverables.
Familiarity in using typical project metrics to evaluate and report design progress.
Ability to support the EC&I design team in meetings and reviews.
Conversant in existing CAE tools (e.g. AutoCAD, AVEVA E&I, PDMS, Trimble MET (cable calculation software).
Must have significant demonstrable experience in EC&I project delivery.
Experience in the design delivery of building electrical services.
Competent in the application of CDM regulations.
Competent in the application of IET wiring regulations.
Experience of space management, cable routing and cable management.
Ability to work as part of an integrated delivery team as well as individually, and sometimes working within restrictive time constraints.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with people of all levels.
Desirable Experience:
Experience in the use of AutoCAD.
Experience in the use of AVEVA electrical or similar EC&I design packages.
Experience of any Sellafield or nuclear industry EC&I design.
