Morson are delighted to be working in partnership with EDF to recruit a Senior Project/Design Manager for the Sizewell C project.

As a Senior Project/Design Manager, you will be at the forefront of this transformative nuclear build, leading the design and technical requirements within the Civil Works Programme (CWP). This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a major project following the success of Hinkley Point C (HPC), with planning approval and government funding secured.
The Role
The Senior Project/Design Manager (L2 Engineering & Technical Project Manager) will be a key part of the Engineering & Technical function within the Civil Works Programme. You will be responsible for managing cost, schedule, and contractual activities while collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams, stakeholders, and suppliers.
Your role will include:
Managing the Engineering & Technical budget for your scope area.
Leading on schedule development, ensuring design milestones align with construction timelines.
Overseeing contract and change management processes.
Working closely with commercial, procurement, and engineering teams to drive project success.
Managing and integrating Responsible Designer (RD) services and liaising with key stakeholders.
Ensuring constructability requirements are embedded in design work.
Supporting the development of annual Task Orders and budget planning.
Key Responsibilities
Manage Engineering & Technical budgets and schedules.
Lead coordination efforts with L3 Project Managers to integrate RD services with the wider project.
Oversee change management processes, ensuring cost and schedule impacts are controlled.
Monitor project risks, progress, and contractor performance through robust reporting mechanisms.
Work closely with SZC Engineering Integration to ensure smooth technical delivery.
Manage a team of Project Engineers and work collaboratively with external suppliers.
Ensure compliance with contract requirements, including CDM Regulations and procurement best practices.
What We’re Looking For
Essential:
Proven experience in project and design management, ideally within a complex, regulated environment.
Strong financial and commercial acumen, with experience managing budgets and schedules.
Expertise in civil engineering structures, reinforced concrete, and structural steel.
Ability to manage multi-disciplinary teams and engage with key stakeholders effectively.
Experience managing external suppliers and contracts within a major infrastructure project.
In-depth knowledge of CDM Regulations and UK design standards.
Chartered Engineer (MICE or MIStructE) or Chartered Project Manager (MAPM).
Honours Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (or equivalent).
Desirable:
Nuclear sector experience, particularly in safety-related structures.
Knowledge of EPR design principles.
Working knowledge of French language and culture.
Experience in large-scale projects such as Hinkley Point C.
Familiarity with APM or Prince 2 methodologies.
