Project Manager

Our client Scottish Power are seeking a Project Manager for a minimum 12 month contract role based primarily in Bonnybridge but also covering other Scottish Power sites.

Purpose

SP Energy Networks are experiencing an unprecedented level of network investment and demand for major connections. These works involve significant engineering deliverables at multiple sites across the SPD territory.
The Project Manager is responsible for the management of the deliverables associated with these projects. It is expected that these deliverables will be produced safely and without adverse impact to the environment, within authorised budget, to a high standard of quality and the required timescales.

Location

The role will be based at the St Vincent Cres office in Glasgow. The successful candidate must be able to visit sites across the SPD area.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for the support of District Project Managers to ensure they have a full suite of project control tools, throughout their full lifecycle from development through to final closeout.
• Working with the Quantity Surveyor Team, conduct regular Cost Value Reconciliations (CVR) to ensure projects remain profitable.
• Responsible for the preparation of, progress reports, risk and issue management and document management
• Responsible for the scheduling of key service partners, direct labour and material reservation
• Develop accurate capital expenditure forecasts and output projections on assigned projects, with full accountability for project, contractual and financial governance.
• Ensure system data and final records for all assets are entered into the corporate systems in line with required policy and associated timescales
• Drive continual improvement by completing project and contract reviews, identifying lessons learned and sharing these with the wider business. Make proposals and introduce changes for best project management practice and behaviour across the wider project portfolio.

Skills & Requirements

• We are looking for excellent candidates with project management skills and an ability to maintain project management disciplines and outputs, preferable within the electricity / utility sectors
• Excellent written and oral communications skills
• Experience of customer management
• Experience of contractor management
• Ability to review, dispute and agree variation orders
• Experience of financial management
• An understanding of high-voltage electrical safety – training and authorisation will be provided
• Able to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
• Self-motivated and able to take responsibility
• Able to build good relationships at all levels, internally and externally
