What You Will Be Doing:
As a Civil Engineer, you will be an integral part of a multi-disciplinary project team, providing technical expertise and design capability to develop and deliver water and water recycling solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
Produce civil designs, calculations, and specifications to ‘Issued For Construction’ standards for water, wastewater, or pipeline projects, collaborating closely with CAD technicians to create 3D models or 2D drawings.
Work within multi-disciplinary design teams to ensure designs are delivered on time, within budget, and meet the required standards, engaging with stakeholders including Operations, contractors, and suppliers throughout the process.
Champion health and safety in design by proactively identifying hazards and reducing risks while complying with Alliance CDM procedures.
Progress projects from feasibility through detailed design to construction phases.
Conduct site visits to assess the current condition of assets for feasibility studies and reports, providing survey data for integration into design solutions.
Support the update and expansion of existing Standard Products used in design solutions to ensure repeatability and efficiency.
Identify and promote opportunities that align with project goals in digital innovation, sustainability, and workforce development.
Skills and Experience Required:
To be successful in this role, you will ideally possess:
A minimum of HNC/HND in Civil Engineering, alongside extensive experience in the field.
Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with a variety of stakeholders and exceed their expectations.
Excellent report writing and data analysis abilities to address challenges and propose enhanced working methods.
If you have experience with the following:
Reinforced concrete design to BS EN 1992
Concrete specification to BS 8500-2
Service reservoir design
Steel building (portal frame) specification and basic design concepts
Understanding of masonry design and detail
Ground engineering and earthworks specifications
Buried pipework design (working from P&ID), including material selection, sizing, layout, and detailing of below-ground surface water collection and disposal systems within the Water and Waste Water Industry
