Cost Engineer

Morson Talent is excited to present an exceptional opportunity for a highly skilled and experienced Cost Engineer to join our client’s established team for work associated with the Nuclear New Build project. 

Scope
• As a member of the Cost Discipline of Integrated Project Controls (IPC), under the direction and leadership of the IPC Cost & Forecasting Manager, you will be responsible for all aspects of cost within either one of the Programme Controls Teams or the Central Controls Team within the HPC Project.
• Your main responsibilities will include leading the establishment, development, and maintenance of timely and accurate cost data and reports. This will include forecasts, performance analysis, earned value, cash flows, and monthly reports on the Actual Cost of Work Performed (ACWP).
• You will also support in minimising the Estimate At Completion (EAC) for the Programme in accordance with best value.

Principal Accountabilities
Team:
• Reporting to the PCM or IPC Cost Manager, you will play a key role in developing, implementing, and maintaining Integrated Project Controls processes for Cost. This will include producing monthly reports and providing intelligent information and analysis.
• You will also assist in leading, coaching, and supporting all staff within the Cost Discipline.
• Collaboration with other Disciplines of Integrated Project Controls and Project Support Functions is essential to deliver Project goals in keeping with the HPC principles of Trust, Transparency, and Teamwork.

Core Processes:
• As the Cost Engineer, you will be responsible for producing and maintaining accurate cost and cash forecasts in alignment with the Cost Breakdown Structure (CBS).
• You will accurately maintain all cost data for the Programme within the financial control system (EcoSys), including monthly ACWP calculations.
• Providing timely and focussed cost reporting for the Programme to key stakeholders, on a defined reporting cycle, will be a key part of your role.
• You will also be responsible for accurately assessing the EAC for the Programme.
• In addition, you will ensure that earned value techniques and indices are correctly implemented in the Programme.
• Leading and ensuring the assessment of all changes and accurately representing approved changes within the programme budgets will also be a part of your responsibilities.
• You will compare and analyse trends within the Programme and identify areas of risk and opportunities.
• Overseeing the review, acceptance, and integration of cost estimates and forecasts provided by Tier 1 Contractors and suppliers will also be a part of your role.
• Ensuring all Project documents, particularly Sensitive Nuclear Information, are correctly protectively marked and protected in accordance with EDF policies and procedures is essential.

Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications & Experience
Essential
• You must hold a minimum of a Degree in Engineering, Construction, Quantity Surveying, or another related field.
• Proven relevant experience in a Project Management or Project Controls environment in a similar Cost role on a major construction/infrastructure Project is essential.
• You must also have experience in using cost management software systems such as EcoSys (Cost, Changes, Earned Value Management).
