OSS Senior Installation Engineer

Scottish Power Renewables are looking for a Senior Installation Engineer to join their East Anglia 1 North project, focussing on offshore sub station foundations installations.

Applicants must have experience in either

  • Offshore Sub Station construction, or
  • Oil & Gas offshore heavy lift construction

Role: Senior Installation Engineer
Business: Scottish Power Renewables - EA1N
Duration: Initial contract until 31/10/2025
Location: London or Glasgow/hybrid style working working (2 days per week in office)
Rate: Inside IR35. Umbrella and PAYE options available

DESCRIPTION OF THE ROLE
The Installation Engineer shall be assigned to East Anglia One North project and shall be responsible for undertaking installation/project engineering duties to assist in the safe and efficient completion of the transportation and installation element of the Offshore Substation scope of works

The role shall require direct interaction with the, the project management team, department management, the project functions (risk management, planning, HSE, Quality, Consents, Marine Warranty), the engineering and fabrication departments and the marine services team.

The role shall also require external relationship to be established and maintained with the Installation Contractor, the marine warranty surveyor, the certified verification agent and external consultant.
The Installation Engineer reports directly to the OFSS Lead Installation Manager

MAIN FUNCTIONS AND ACTIVITIES

Installation/Project Engineering

  • Assist the Installation Manager in the development and implementation of a package installation engineering plan and management of any internal and external services or resources that are required to deliver the tasks identified within the engineering plan.
  • Completion of the specific tasks that are identified within package engineering plan.
  • Supervision of Contractor’s engineering works and for the review of Contractor’s procedures for T&I.
  • Supervision of Contractor’s works which may include undertaking the duties of package engineering representatives at Contractor’s premises or onboard installation vessels.
  • Review and approval of the as-installed records
  • Coordination of information sharing and document review process between the package management team, the Contractor, any Related Works Contractors, the Marine Warranty Surveyor, the Independent Verification Society, and the Site Management teams.
  • Responsible to complete or organize, as applicable, the administrative tasks needed by the company and project, related to the planning and execution of installation works
  • Preparation and upkeep of the OFSS T&I Risk Register
  • In addition to the core responsibilities and accountabilities the Installation Engineer may be delegated additional responsibilities for health and safety management, budgeting, planning, procurement, development of departmental procedures and reporting

Procurement

  • Preparation of the technical documentation that is required for inclusion within ITT and Contract documentation package(s)
  • Technical assessment of bids including: Assessment of T&I solution including consents compliance check Analysis of bidder’s programme of work Weather analysis Vessel assurance check Technical risk assessment.

Consents

  • Provision of technical assistance to the consenting team to assist them in discharging the project’s consent conditions.

Engineering

  • Completion of engineering tasks required of the Design for T&I and all Interface engineering activities.
  • Review of Contractors installation engineering deliverables.
  • Coordination of package specific interface tasks required to ensure compliance with the requirements of the project’s Interface Management Plan.
  • Coordination of engineering tasks required for the CVA approval process for Transportation and Installation.

T&I Contract Management
Supporting the management of the T&I Contractor, this shall include:

  • Quality, Health & Safety and Environmental management of Contractors activities.
  • Assisting the management of T&I Contractors detailed design process for T&I.
  • Assisting the management of T&I Contractors Transportation & Installation works including approval of Contractors procedures.

Execution of the Works

  • Review, acceptance, and management of change of the Contractors procedures and engineering studies and analysis.
  • Assist the Installation Manager in managing the Marine Warranty Surveyor approval process.
  • Supervision of Contractor works which may include undertaking the duties of package engineering representatives at Contractor’s premises or onboard installation vessels.
  • Review and approval of the as-installed records.
  • Responsible for providing support to the quality manager to ensure satisfactory close out of NCRs relating to transportation and installation.

Knowledge transfer

  • Including but not limited to Lessons Learnt from and to other projects of the business.
  • Development of corporate procedures.

CRITERIA

  • Degree in relevant engineering discipline or equivalent industry experience
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in offshore wind or subsea discipline, with 3 years’ experience as senior installation engineer level or equivalent.
  • Experience within offshore sub station construction, or O&G offshore heavy lift construction
  • Demonstrable experiences in:
    • Understanding and implementation of all DNV and IMCA standards/ recommendations
    • Installation engineering design.
    • Production of specification and tender documents.
    • Contracts (/subcontracts) negotiations (technical aspects).
    • Construction planning.
    • Budgetary estimations.

LANGUAGES
The project has an international team of employees and the working language is English. Candidates need to be fluent in English both spoken and written (full professional proficiency).
