A fantastic experience has arisen for a Project Planner with Primavera 6 experience to join the team with our prestigious client BAE Systems at their site in Glasgow
Role Description
The individual will create, maintain and control the project and delivery schedules, including the monitoring and reporting of project status. Actively work to resolve scheduling issues, working with internal and external stakeholders to formulate recovery plans.
At this level the incumbent may supervise or guide up to 2 professional staff and will be expected to work independently in more complex situations but will seek guidance where needed.
They will have a level of experience in one or more areas of planning/scheduling practice and be expected to be able to adapt and apply these practices in different circumstances, to develop these practices and to guide and instruct others in their application..
Core Duties
Have a clear understanding and application of the Quality and HS&E Management System documentation e.g. Process Instructions, Risk Assessments etc. applicable to your particular work scope and to obey all HS&E rules.
Provide planning & scheduling expertise in the creation of schedules to support the execution of projects.
Produce high level Project status information and other required company reports.
Provide planning & scheduling expertise to support the introduction of Key major initiatives into the business.
Pro actively identify and feedback any opportunities to enhance continuous improvement.
Communicate effectively with the team, management and customer both internal and external.
Create sound cross functional dependencies.
Support training, mentoring and guidance to lower grade members of the planning team and the wider project team. Demonstrate responsibility for own development.
Play an active part within meetings as required by the role.
Use appropriate software and tool sets required for the job role.
Support, and when required, deputise for the Lead Planner/Planning Manager to ensure the work programme is achieved, meeting all performance measures (cost, schedule, quality and safety).

The role holder is accountable for:
Accountable as a member of the Planning/Scheduling team for supporting development and implementation of appropriately tailored Planning/Scheduling practices.
May have supervisory responsibilities for up to 2 staff.
Expected to provide technical support to team members.
Accountable for ensuring one or more aspects of Planning/Scheduling practices in the project are suitable for purpose.
Knowledge:
Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of Planning/Scheduling policies, processes, procedures and systems.
Comprehensive Planning/Scheduling experience demonstrated in a professional capacity within a project.
Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of their projects.
Comprehensive understanding of one or more Planning/Scheduling tools techniques and practices.
Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the Business environment for their project.
Knowledge and experience of PM governance and assurance processes such as Integrated Baseline Reviews (IBRs).
Experience of influencing stakeholders typically inside the company.
Good understanding of the wider Planning/Scheduling environment, and of developments and practices in the field.
Good understanding of own project/s, its markets, customers, strategic priorities and culture.
Knowledge acquired through job related training and on the job experience with theoretical and practical skills.
Experience of building relationships and negotiating outcomes with internal stakeholders.
Skills:
Skilled user of modern planning/scheduling systems (e.g. Primavera P6, MSP).
Problem solving most likely to apply in an existing Business environment.
Good understanding of the structure, organisation, processes and culture of Line of Business, so as to be able to support implementation of appropriate Project Control approaches.
Applies problem solving techniques to routine situations or situations of moderate complexity under limited supervision, in the field of Project Control, taking requirements and data from internal (project) sources and external (customer, competitor and academic) areas.

Qualifications:
Application of related PM Competencies will be expected at this level.
University Degree or relevant project management experience will be expected.
Incumbent will be expected to have or working towards a PM Qualification such as the APM Project Management Qualification or another appropriate PM professional body.
