Civils/Infrastructure Planner - Leeds
As a Civils/Infrastructure Planner, you will play a key role in the successful delivery of major infrastructure projects. You will be responsible for developing, updating, and monitoring project programmes, driving short-term and long-term planning activities, and providing detailed analysis to support project teams. The role requires strong collaboration with site teams, project managers, commercial teams, and client representatives to ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and in line with business objectives. You will also provide leadership and support to a team of Project Coordinators, fostering a collaborative, delivery-focused environment.
Key Responsibilities
Planning and Programme Management
- Develop and maintain robust project programmes in line with project milestones, using industry-standard planning tools.
- Lead weekly collaborative planning sessions to review progress, gather site input, and update short-term lookaheads.
- Produce and manage short interval control (SIC) plans, ensuring teams remain focused on critical path activities and near-term deliverables.
- Track, update, and visualise key activities to promote visibility of upcoming work and project status.
Weekly & Monthly Reporting
- Collate and update planned vs. actual progress through regular team input and site engagement.
- Generate weekly reports including: Percentage complete, Stage completions, Changes to programme and implications, Visual trackers and dashboards for site and management
- Deliver comprehensive monthly updates: Narrative and data-driven summaries of project progress, Forecasts for the upcoming month, Analysis on slippage, float movement, and potential risks, Updated stage programmes for both internal use and client reporting
Forecasting and Commercial Integration
- Collaborate with the commercial team to integrate cost and value data into the programme.
- Support the creation of accurate spend profiles and forecasts.
- Ensure alignment of time and cost reporting for Earned Value Analysis (EVA) and monthly CVR reviews.
Team Leadership & Collaboration
- Provide guidance and oversight to a team of Project Coordinators, supporting their development and ensuring consistency in planning practices.
- Foster a collaborative, delivery-focused approach with site and project teams.
- Act as a key planning contact for internal and external stakeholders.
Required Experience & Skills
- Proven experience as a Planner within a Tier 1 contractor environment.
- Strong background in major civil engineering or infrastructure projects (e.g., highways, bridges, earthworks, utilities, or rail).
- Experience leading collaborative planning processes and reporting cycles.
Technical Skills:
- Proficient in Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, and Excel.
- Confident with visual planning tools and digital reporting dashboards.
- Good understanding of NEC contracts and the link between programme and commercial outcomes.
- Strong analytical and reporting capabilities.
