Morson Talent are currently recruiting for a Manual Machinist to work on behalf of one of our reputable Aerospace clients based in Christchurch. This role is a contract until July 2025, with possibility of extension.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
In this role, you will operate manual milling machines and lathes to produce and repair precision components, ensuring precision and compliance with aerospace standards. Additionally, you may be required to fix mechanical, pneumatic, electronic, and electro-mechanical aircraft parts. You will interpret technical drawings, engineering specifications, and Component Maintenance Manuals to machine parts accurately and ensure compliance with aerospace standards and regulations. Responsibilities include inspecting parts, optimizing machining processes, troubleshooting equipment, and performing fault-finding, strip-down, rebuilding, and testing of components. Lastly, you will adhere to safety standards and complete all required documentation to ensure compliance and traceability.
ESSENTIAL TASKS/DUTIES:
Interpret Component Maintenance Manuals Service Bulletins & other Technical data approved by the regulator required to perform the Repair & Overhaul duties.
Perform a preliminary inspection of the unit to include a diagnostic test, disassembly, cleaning & component inspection.
SKILLS REQUIRED:
A flexible approach to work is required.
The ability to be able to function as part of a team within a lean manufacturing environment.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Previous experience with Manual Machining, Milling, and Lathe operation within the Aerospace or similar industry. Also, experience of precision assembly work is desirable.
EDUCATION REQUIRED:
Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent, a recognised Engineering Apprenticeship or similar Qualification.
MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS:
Full BPSS* Screening (*Baseline Personnel Security Standard), including proof of Legal Right to Work, Criminal Records Check, i.e. UK DBS and Drugs Screening.
