Morson Talent are excited to be recruiting for Service and Commissioning Engineer for an established supplier of electrical engineering solutions for the naval environment.
Over the years our client has been an innovator in control systems and ruggedised enclosures, particularly for military applications and its equipment and systems can be found in a broad range of applications across the globe. 

This role is a field based role with occasional visits to the office for training, briefings and to assist with customer FATs. When not attending vessels, you will need to be able to work from home and must be prepared to work way from home up to 2-3 weeks at a time sometimes at very short notice. Willingness to travel is essential as you occasionally will have to work abroad. You will generally be working in Navel Dockyards and Shipyards but occasionally you may be required to attend vessels at see usually in UK waters.

Job Description
• Undertake commissioning, setting to work, fault finding and surveys
• Provide training to customers staff
• Writing reports following visits and providing recommendations from improvements
• Supporting a wide range of electrical equipment and systems both on board ships and submarines
• Liaising with sales, engineering and production teams to provide feedback to ensure that new designs are not only functionally acceptable but are easy to maintain and operate
• Write technical support manuals
• Obsolescence planning and management
• Creation of general method statements and risk assessments

Your knowledge and experience:
• A qualification in Electrical Engineering of a minimum of HNC or equivalent, preferably also having served some form of apprenticeship
• A wide understanding of Electromechanical Engineering (Motor Control, Power Distribution Transformers etc) with some knowledge of Electronics and PLC systems
• Some knowledge of Motor Generators, Static Frequency Converters and Transformer Rectifier Units would be an advantage but not essential as training will be given
• Ability to update and maintain PLC programs and settings
• Ability to read and follow complex wiring/schematic diagrams of different versions
• Service and fault finding experience
• Experience of the marine environment and preferably of marine power supplies
• Previous experience with helicopter systems an advantage
• Skilled in the use of test equipment, voltmeters, oscilloscope, load banks etc.

About you:
• Ideally ex Royal Navy trained in the service and maintenance of electrical and electronic equipment
• Be able to obtain UK MoD SC Clearance
