Human Factors contractor

Job Title: Experienced HF Contractor (Nuclear Experience)
Location: Remote (Occasional Ad-Hoc Site Visits to Davenport Shipyard)
Contract Duration: 12 Months
Work Schedule: Approx. 2-3 Days per Week
Security Clearance: SC (Security Check) Clearance Required

Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Human Factors (HF) Contractor with a strong background in nuclear operations to join our team for a 12-month contract. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing specialist HF advice and expertise on a range of nuclear-related projects, primarily in the context of safety, operations, and human performance at Davenport Shipyard. While the role is primarily remote, occasional site visits to the Davenport Shipyard may be required (1-2 times per month). The position requires SC clearance.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide Human Factors expertise to support nuclear-related projects, particularly focusing on human performance and safety.
Conduct assessments, evaluations, and analyses of work environments, systems, and processes to identify potential risks or human error factors.
Develop recommendations to improve human performance, safety, and efficiency in nuclear operations.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineers, safety professionals, and operational staff.
Review and analyze safety documentation and operational procedures to ensure they align with best practices in HF and nuclear safety.
Provide expert advice during incident investigations or human error analyses.
Ensure all work complies with relevant nuclear industry standards, guidelines, and legislation.
Prepare and deliver reports and presentations to internal stakeholders.
Key Requirements:

Extensive experience in Human Factors in high-risk, regulated industries, preferably within the nuclear sector.
Proven track record of working on nuclear projects, with in-depth knowledge of nuclear safety, operational environments, and human performance factors.
SC clearance (or ability to obtain SC clearance) is essential.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with stakeholders and technical teams.
Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and meet deadlines.
Experience working remotely and managing your own schedule effectively.
Desired Skills & Qualifications:

Experience with HF-related tools and methodologies (e.g., ergonomics, safety assessments, human error analysis).
Knowledge of relevant nuclear safety standards and regulatory requirements.
Previous experience in the maritime or shipyard industry is a plus.
