Our client Scottish Power Renewables are seeking a Project Certification Manager for an on-going contract position based in either London or Glasgow.
Main Purpose of the Job
The Certification Manager’s role is to ensure that the project is designed, executed, and commissioned
in accordance with applicable Certification scheme. The Certification manager oversees the project
certification process, manages the certification contract, and acts as the primary liaison between the
project certifier and various project packages.
Key Tasks
Ensure that the project is designed, executed, and commissioned in accordance with applicable
Certification scheme.
• Serve as the primary point of contact between the project certifier and project packages,
facilitating communication and coordination.
• Provide guidance and support to project packages to ensure correct understanding and
application of Certification scheme and identification of the deliverables needed to fulfil the
Certification scheme.
• Provide advice and support to the project packages in case additional deliverables are needed
from the Project Certifier (e.g., approval of Technical Queries, issuance of Design Appraisal
Documents, etc.)
• Flag, track and communicate potential conditions imposed by the Project Certifier to the affected
project packages.
• Challenge non-justified requests, requirements or conditions raised by the Project Certifier.
• Establish and maintain the project certification programme, aligning it with the overall project
timeline and milestones.
• Monitor adherence to the certification programme, ensuring all necessary steps are followed and
deadlines are met.
• Proactively identify risks of non-compliance with standards and work with project packages to
develop mitigation measures.
• Minimize impacts on project schedule and budget by implementing effective risk mitigation
strategies.
• Report status, progress, and risks with regards to Project Certifier scope, costs, or programme to
the Engineering Manager and other members of the project team as required.
• Identify opportunities for process improvement within the certification process and implement
necessary changes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
• Advise on potential overlaps, synergies, risks, and opportunities resulting from the engagement of
multiple independent 3rd parties in the project (e.g., Marine Warranty Surveyor).
• Plan and manage (remotely) site inspections to fulfil requirements from Certification.
• Organise and attend calls, meetings as required.
• Ensure that the project certification process follows the project document management
procedure, including proper documentation and version control.
• Manage the transfer of documentation between the Project Certifier contractor and the project
packages.
• Ensure that all communication, assessment, advice, and recommendations are fully documented
in accordance with the project communication procedures.
• Ensure that appropriate lessons learnt from the certification process in EA Three offshore wind
farm will be derived and captured.
Key Criteria
Minimum relevant experience of 5 years.
• Knowledge and experience in engineering design and delivery of offshore windfarms.
• Experience in Project and Contract Management.
• Understanding of Project Certification scope.
• Comprehensive knowledge of engineering procedures, standards and guidance.
• Educated to Degree level in relevant engineering discipline.
• Fluent in English.
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
• IT literate with the ability to operate MS Office systems and other IT based project management
software
