We have exciting opportunities for a JUNIOR PROJECT ENGINEER to be based at our clients premises in Oxfordshire:
About the Role:
A Junior Engineer is required to provide technical support and engineering input to the JET
Decommissioning and Repurposing (JDR) team, in the detailed planning of decommissioning and disassembly of the Joint European Torus (JET), located at Culham
Undertaking or supporting surveys on-site, preparing or producing survey reports, to the level of detail specified at the times.
The candidate will be an embedded resource on a full time basis, supporting the Lead Engineers as required under the supervision the JDR Programme Managers, Project Managers and Lead Engineers.
The candidate will be co-located at the same office area with the team.
A minimum of 3 days per week at the office. Remote working available, up to 2 days per week.
Line management will be provided by CED
Accountable for providing support to the Ex-Vessel and Active Systems Decommissioning operations team in an area of great importance to the Authority.
To help ensure the JET EX-Vessel Decommissioning (EVD) project is completed on time and within budget they will work with operations engineers, systems engineers, and work package managers to ensure the implementation and success of decommissioning activities.
In the context of this task, responsible for all aspects of assigned tasks to prepare for decommissioning of systems inside and outside the JET fusion device.
The successful candidate will be expected to take a key role, working with the team to investigate designs, survey as-built plant, and create disassembly strategies. This will also include preparation of plans, procedures and safe systems of work in support of the EVD project and other interfacing projects within the wider JET Decommissioning and Repurposing (JDR) programme.

Methodologies:
Investigate engineering designs.
Define and coordinate physical inspections and surveys,
Establish disassembly strategies,
Prepare plans.
Prepare risk assessments.
Write procedures and methods statements (Safe systems of work).
Document Control:
Control and management of technical documentation related to the disassembly of JET systems using conventional windows file structure, SharePoint, and UKAEA / customer document management systems.
Reporting:
Provide regular reports of progress towards the completion of the assigned work packages to the Project Manager and other internal project stakeholders.
Administration:
Organisation of meetings
Record of minutes / actions from meetings
Qualifications:
Recognised qualification in engineering at HND level (or equivalent) OR equivalent practical experience.
Experience:
A minimum of 3 years experience working in a technical role.
Thorough understanding of the engineering process, including system designs, electrical and mechanical assemblies.
Thorough understanding and ability to interpret complex engineering design drawings.
Experience of project planning and estimating.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Uncompromising attention to detail and accuracy.
Logical and systematic approach.
An understanding of Written Safe System of Work and its use to control plant and personnel risks.
Experience of modern document management systems.
Experience of CAD software.
Experience of modern collaborative working platforms (e.g., JIRA/Confluence, Windows, SharePoint).
Development of tools to assist with project management.
Previous experience in decommissioning.
Experience in generating formal operations documentation or working within a highly regulated environment.
