Area Engineering Manager

We have an exciting new opportunity for an AREA ENGINEERING MANAGER to be based at our clients premises in Warrington, Cheshire.

About the Role:

The Area Engineering Manager (AEM) will be required to lead the development of the Engineering and Technical planning for the establishment of a new waste route for Contact Handle-able Intermediate Level Waste and/or Remote Handle-able Intermediate Level Waste. This role could be delivered by a single AEM if the candidate has demonstrable experience of successful delivery in similar roles. There is also the opportunity for two separate AEMs to deliver elements of the new waste routes,
The suitable individual will:
Lead the team in engaging with programme and technical (amongst others) stakeholders to elicit and agree project/system/component requirements.
Identify the required capabilities to fulfil the agreed requirements.
Develop a long list of options for each capability and underpin the down selection of a shortlist and final Single Preferred Solution (product).
Lead the development of strategies for the delivery of Product Items.
Implement the delivery strategies.
Develop and implement verification activities for agreed requirements.

An Area Engineering Manager will be delivering against SL role ED019 and will have the ability to demonstrate SQEP against AEM Role (SR0754)

AEM leading the multidiscipline teams, responsible for estimating, scheduling, forecasting and the production of the agreed design deliverables.
Management of the DSA teams in production of deliverables.
Development of the safety case(s), including attendance at HAZOPs, support to safety assessment, review of ES, production of substantiation documentation.
Resource identification of additional resource demand where required to ensure all deliverables can be originated and cheeked in accordance with the project schedule dates.
Interfacing with other Project Discipline leads within the project(s).
Interfacing and engaging with Site clients and stakeholders.

Essential Experience and Qualifications:

Minimum requirement - Significant experience working in an engineering design environment in roles where knowledge of engineering was a key attribute. Recent experience working within a regulated and quality assured system (preferably nuclear) in roles where professional engineering judgement is the key attribute.
Knowledge and understanding of governing laws, regulations and standards for nuclear industry (equivalence from other industries will be considered):
Health & Safety at Work Act and various Regulations including The Construction (design and management) Regulations 2015, Safety of Machinery, CDM, LOLER, Pressure Systems, DSEAR, Ionising Radiation.

Identification of Technological readiness levels and development of technology development plans.

Higher Education Qualification in Engineering (or equivalent) subject.
Minimum - HNC
Preferred - MEng
Background engineering experience demonstrating a record of successful delivery including recent positions influencing professional engineers and guiding technical personnel.

Appropriate (Engineering or Scientific) Institution Membership
Minimum - Incorporated Engineer
Preferred - Chartered Engineer

Desirable Qualifications and Experience:

Delivery of Project Scope on Sellafield Site.
INCOSE ASEP/CSEP certification and associated delivery experience.
Requirements Management and Value Management experience within a project delivery environment.
Demonstrable understanding of contract NEC3 terms and conditions.
Base knowledge of Safety Case structure, related safety and engineering practices.
Ability to deliver the CDM Principal Designer Duty Holder Role.
