PMO Analyst
Location: Sunderland, London, Edinburgh
Contract Duration: 6 months – likelihood of extension
Rate: £400-550/day inside IR35
Job Summary
This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing Business Improvement function within the renewables sector. Working closely with the Portfolio Manager and engaging with teams across the organization, the Portfolio PMO Analyst will play a vital role in delivering an effective PMO function.
The successful candidate will collaborate with various teams to meet project objectives, ensure compliance with business improvement frameworks, and support the delivery of transformation projects. Responsibilities include schedule maintenance, financial monitoring, analysis and reporting, risk management, and documentation.
Key Responsibilities
- Portfolio Planning: Assist in developing and communicating portfolio planning processes to stakeholders.
- Portfolio Analysis: Leverage data to assess and provide narratives on portfolio health.
- Best Practice Promotion: Embed governance and methodology standards across business change portfolios and facilitate lessons learned for future initiatives.
- Project Tools: Manage the lifecycle for change projects, enhancing tools and processes for resource management, reporting, and project tracking.
- Communication: Deliver clear and effective updates to stakeholders and team members.
- Management Reporting: Create and distribute management information, highlighting risks, issues, and potential resolutions.
- Project Governance: Support end-to-end project governance, including quality assurance, gate reviews, and maintaining audit trails.
- Process Development: Contribute to the improvement of portfolio and project management practices, tools, and methodologies.
Required Knowledge
- Knowledge of project management frameworks from initiation to benefits realisation.
- Familiarity with professional standards, corporate norms, and delivery frameworks.
- Understanding of portfolio, program, and project management (P3M) practices and maturity models.
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a PMO role, preferably in the energy or related sectors.
- Strong background in project controls such as budgeting, risk management, and reporting.
- Experience with stage-gate governance processes and business transformation projects.
- Proficiency in Power BI is advantageous.
- Excellent skills in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Familiarity with portfolio/project management IT tools.
- Proven ability to collaborate with diverse teams and build strong relationships.
