Help us to make a world of difference

Urenco is a global leader in the production of low carbon energy. We work at the cutting edge of the transition to a sustainable, net zero world.

We’re looking for an Internal Controls Manager 10-12 months FTC Based at our Stoke Poges location, moving to Paddington next year, you’ll have a significant role in the development & implementation of the Group’s internal financial controls environment and framework. This will include assisting in designing key elements as well as responsibility for delivery of core components. They will take a lead role in the support of wider internal controls improvement initiatives.

At Urenco we’re committed to giving you opportunities to be your best. If you feel you meet some, but not all of what were looking for, please still apply. We believe in embracing the passion and potential of our people, and to achieve this we offer market leading training and development experiences. Along with the opportunity to be mentored and coached by some of the smartest minds in the industry.

What you’ll do:

• Work with and influence senior stakeholders and departmental heads to define and establish minimum basic controls in core processes. Including consideration of how existing processes may need to be updated and agree changes required.
• Ensure that controls are adequately designed for all in-scope processes and agreed with control / business owners.
• Manage the fraud risk assessment process across the Group including implementation of the new system when designed, agreeing suitable controls and working with stakeholders to implement controls where needed.
• Provide guidance, support and direction to the business on effectively managing relevant controls risks and provide ad hoc controls advice / SME input for implementing effective and efficient controls.
• Deliver additional internal control improvement initiatives as required. This will include journal controls, balance sheet reconciliations, SAP SoD controls as well as other related projects.

What do you need to thrive in this role?

• Strong academic background.
• Chartered accountant qualification desirable.
• Significant experience of working in either a risk based / Sarbanes-Oxley / internal controls / internal audit discipline.
• Experience of influencing senior stakeholders to adopt new controls frameworks.
• Prior experience of controls testing, implementation or design of control frameworks.
• Adaptable and able to operate with minimal supervision across a range of functions and departments.
Ability to manage and deliver a portfolio of projects / workstreams concurrently.
• Strong understanding of risk and control principles, regulatory compliance, and relevant accounting principles
• Good communication skills
• Willing to travel as the job demands to URENCO offices in Germany, the Netherlands, the UK and the US (Circa. 25% travel)

What can you expect from us?

• Annual leave of 27 days per annum.
• A generous completion bonus
• A defined contribution pension scheme: contributions start at 11% (employee) and 16% (employer).
• Hybrid Working Pattern: up to two days working remotely on average per week. Flexible start and finish times, with a 1.30pm finish on Fridays.
• Flexible benefits package including life assurance and income protection. In addition, you’ll have an opportunity to purchase additional benefits that suit your lifestyle.
• Paid time off for volunteering.
• The opportunity to join our private medical and dental insurance schemes.
• Education and training we take pride in helping people learn and develop by supporting, accelerating and directing your learning. As well as the completion of mandatory health and safety courses, training packages will be offered to meet your specific needs.
